There are two different types of dental prostheses.
One type of dental prosthesis is fixed dentures. This type of prosthesis is attached to the mouth and the person cannot remove this prosthesis voluntarily. Fixed dentures are used in a fixed way to the tooth. One of the most important features of these prostheses is that the prosthesis is produced using one's own teeth. This type of artificial tooth is applied to people with less tooth loss. An artificial tooth made of his own tooth is attached to the sick person. This process has several stages. These stages begin with the cutting of the tooth. The cut tooth is first prepared. Then it is covered and finally the tooth is mounted in the patient's mouth. These prostheses are made of porcelain or metal. At the same time, the use of these prostheses dates back to ancient times. After the decision on the prosthesis, the process from the prosthesis to the patient is approximately 10 days. Within 10 days, the person is fitted with artificial teeth. During this process, the patient has to go to his own dentist 4-5 times. The lifespan of prostheses used as artificial teeth varies between 6 and 8 years. This change takes place even if the prosthesis is quite solid. Fixed prostheses are of two types, bridge and crown.
The name of another type of prosthesis is removable prosthesis. This type of prosthesis can be easily removed and put on by the user. At the same time, this type of artificial tooth must be maintained daily, every day. This type of prosthesis is applied to people with many missing teeth. This type can be applied partially or fully. If a person has lost all their teeth for any reason, they are fitted with a full denture. If the person has lost a part of their teeth, not all of their teeth, partial dentures are placed on such people. The construction of such teeth takes place in a longer period of time compared to fixed prostheses.
Patients should go to the dentist at least 7 times during this process. The construction period of removable prostheses takes approximately 6-7 weeks. It is very difficult to make compared to fixed prosthesis. Teeth made in this type are generally seen as a symbol of old age in society. For this reason, people often hesitate to wear this type of tooth. But this view in society is wrong. The reason for this is that removable dentures are not worn when the person gets old, but if the person has lost all or part of their teeth.
This type of prosthesis moves when the person is in the mouth, talking and coughing. Therefore, this artificial tooth is rejected by the person for psychological reasons. Although it is not very favorably received by the person due to the opinion of the society and the movement of the prosthesis for some reasons in the mouth, if the person has lost all of his teeth, he has to have this prosthesis fitted.
