The part of the tooth that remains above the gum and appears in the mouth is called a crown; the part that is not visible in the mouth and remains in the bone is called a root. The teeth consist of several layers. The outermost layer is the enamel layer seen above the gum border. There is a structure called dentin under the enamel layer. There is pulp tissue, which is a soft connective tissue under the enamel and dentin, which are the outer tissues of the tooth, and forms the living part of the tooth, popularly known as the "nerve of the tooth". During the growth and development of a tooth, the task of the pulp is to feed it. When a tooth is fully developed, pulp tissue; It is to transmit pain and inform that the tooth is damaged or inflamed.
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with and treats problems that have progressed to the dental pulp.
