What is a dental prosthesis?
Although teeth are very important for human health, they are one of the things that people pay a lot of attention to. However, although attention is paid to its cleaning and maintenance, some problems may occur in teeth. There are many treatment methods of these problems.
Dental prostheses are the last preferred structures in dental treatment. One of the problems that occur in dental health is tooth decay, tooth breakage, fall or insufficient filling. In such cases, first of all, the problem is tried to be corrected with treatment. If the damage to the teeth is too large to be corrected with treatment, dental prostheses are used.
There are two different types of dentures. A type of dental prostheses are fixed prostheses. This type of prosthesis is glued to the mouth and the person cannot remove this prosthesis at his own will. This type of prosthese is called crown or bridge and is applied to people with low tooth loss. These prostheses are made entirely of porcelain or porcelain with a metal infrastructure. During the prosthesis construction process, the patient must come to the dentist 4-5 times.
The name of another type of prosthesis is the moving prosthesis. This type of prosthesis can be removed and installed very easily by the user. At the same time, daily care of this type of artificial teeth is absolutely necessary every day. This type of prosthesis is applied to people with many missing teeth. These prostheses are applied in cases of partial or complete toothlessness. If a person has lost all their teeth for any reason, they are fitted with full dentures. If the person has lost a part of his teeth, not all his teeth, such people are fitted with sectional prostheses. The construction of such teeth takes place in a longer period of time than fixed prostheses. It is very difficult to make compared to the fixed prosthesis. Teeth made in this type are generally seen as a symbol of old age in society. Therefore, the person is often afraid to wear this type of tooth. But this view in society is a wrong view. The reason for this is that movable prostheses are not worn when the person gets old, but if the person has lost all his teeth or part of his teeth.
Such prostheses move when they are in the mouth, while the person is talking and coughing. Therefore, this artificial tooth is rejected by the person for psychological reasons. Although it is not very positively received by the person due to both the thought in the society and the movement of the prosthesis in the mouth for some reasons, if the person has lost all of his teeth, he has to have this prosthesis installed.
